Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Fr. Francisco Mendez de Dios called me August 16, from his new parish,
All Saints in Manassas, to insure that I send the congregation a message
of thanks on his behalf and on behalf of his family for the marvelous
reception and send off you provided last Sunday. He mentioned the cooks,
the servers, the singers, the gifts and the clean up crew. Last of all
he mentioned the speakers. He has left a void here at the Rectory and
in the Parish that will be hard to fill. We pray for his happy adjustment
to life in his new parish.
The unity and diversity that was so beautifully expressed in this
event is the best testament to his work among us. Let us continue in
that vein.
This weekend we welcome new sponsors to join our extraordinary sponsor
program for Haiti. Families and individuals sponsor a student's education
for a needy family in Gros Marin Cavaillon in Haiti. We are 50% toward
our goal. You may sign up after Mass in this expression of solidarity,
Dieu est Bon

Help Needed/ Religious Education for Children
St. Charles' Sunday morning religious education classes need a few more
adults to serve as catechists. If you love children and wish to help
them grow closer to God and learn more about their Catholic faith, please
consider volunteering as a catechist this coming year. For more information,
contact Anne Marie at 703-527-5500, x 119 or akaufmann@stcharleschurch.org.
We have a particular need for those who enjoy working with preschool
aged children.
RESPECT LIFE
Roe [v.Wade] effectively legalized abortion throughout pregnancy for
virtually any reason, or none at all. It is responsible for the grief
of millions of women and men, and the killing of millions of unborn
children in the past quarter century." -- Living the Gospel of
Life: A Challenge to American Catholics (USCCB)
Pregnant and need help? Assistance is just a telephone call away. Please
contact Gabriel Project Arlington at 1-866-444-3553 any time for a friend
who can point you toward the best assistance.

small. Feel the Spirit! Be the Spirit! Checks may be made payable to
St. Charles School Scholarship Fund. I am blessed by your continued
support and generosity. If you have any questions, please call the school
office at 703-527-0608. Sr. Benedict Kesock.
