FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Our St. Charles Parish Community doesn't just stop in the summer.
Some things slow down, but there is still education planning, administration
catch-up, social justice advocacy and service, website
updates, funerals, weddings, baptisms, and of course, prayer.
Look to this week's Scriptures for encouragement on one way to pray.
From direct dialogue and advocacy to asking
God to teach you to pray. Summer is a good time to let your relationship
with God grow stronger and more real. Stay with us, we need your support
and the support of each other to be Christ in our community.
Live the Spirit together.

SOCIAL JUSTICE NEWS
Child Hope Asia Philippines thanks St. Charles Church for remembering
the needy of the Philippines who we are trying to support. We are constantly
astonished at the continued generosity of the parishioners of St. Charles
Borromeo. We would like to thank you specifically for the tithe of May
9, 2004 in the amount of $1,630.49 which will be used to support the
work of all three of our partners in the Philippines. We thank you for
dedicating the second collection of May 2, 2004 to our new campaign,
the PMM Shelter Project. The collection raised $5,150, and with that,
PMM has now raised over $40,000 for the construction of this shelter.
This shelter will make such a real difference in the lives of those
who benefit from it.
RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
"Abortion and euthanasia are thus crimes which no human law
can claim to legitimize. There is no obligation in conscience to obey
such laws; instead there is a grave and clear obligation to oppose them
by conscientious objection."
Assistance is just a telephone call away Please contact Gabriel Project
Arlington at 1-866-444-3553, any time for a friend who can point you
toward the best assistance.
