FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Next weekend our Latin American Community celebrates the third anniversary
of their Prayer Group at the 5 PM Mass with a reception afterwards in
the Gym to which all are welcome. As well as spiritual growth, the Grupo
de Oracion fosters outreach to the sick and bereaved in the Latin American
Community, extending St. Charles' Circle of Caring to our immigrant
members.
Let us join with them in prayer and solidarity.
IN NEED OF FOOD FOR THE PANTRY!
The food pantry, serving families and lone rangers alike, needs more
food! Especially non-perishables and diabetic-friendly food, low in
sodium and sugar. Many of our emergency clients are diabetics, and keeping
that in mind when you make donations will make for more nutritious meals!!
HOLY FATHER/PETER'S PENCE COLLECTION
On Sunday, June 27th, our parish will participate in the Peter's Pence
Collection for the Works of the Holy Father. This Collection enables
the Holy Father to respond to requests for emergency funds from the
most disadvantaged throughout the world. This special appeal is an opportunity
to demonstrate justice and kindness to our brothers and sisters in need.
Please pray for the Holy Father's works and contribute generously to
the appeal.
SPONSOR OF THE WEEK: Our thanks to Whitlow's On Wilson BAR &

Duarte, William Frederick, Vincent Roberts, Diane Herbst, Brad Pilot,

TWO DEVELOPMENTS, IN NEGOTIATION
These days in the local social justice ministry, we are spreading the
word about two neighborhood affordable housing developments by the non-profit
Arlington Partnership of Affordable Housing (APAH). The First Baptist
Church of Clarendon is looking to add several stories of affordable
housing with an Arlington Partnership of Affordable Housing development,
at Rosslyn Ridge off of Rte.50, a complex owned by APAH. Both developments
are currently in local government debates right now. Given our affordable
housing crisis, we pray negotiations will preserve the benefits of these
apartments for lower-income workers and families.
RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
"...protecting human life is the most basic
[priority]
If
we do not uphold and protect human life in its beginning at conception,
there would be no life to uphold and protect thereafter." (Bishop
Paul Loverde Voting Letter - November 2000).
