FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
I ask all of you to join me in praying for all of the US military
who have lost their lives recently in Iraq, and to all their grieving
family and friends. Let us also pray for peace in Iraq and in the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict, and for all victims, especially civilians and children. Easter
season is a time specially devoted to peace. Jesus' Easter greeting
in many of the Easter appearances was "Peace be with you!"
Let the horrors of war and terror strengthen the nations' search for
alternative methods to root out the causes of violence.
Easter also celebrates the church's call to share, "to have all
things in common." Your support through Rice Bowl and to parish
needs are a clear sign of the Easter spirit. St. Charles has reached
70% toward our
Bishop's Lenten Appeal. Since Catholic Charities suffered losses
last year because of United Way cutbacks and other constraints, your
generosity is especially appreciated now.
Alleluia!
"FROM OUR COUNTERS
"
St. Charles is extremely blessed by the generosity of our parishioners.
This evident every week in the collection baskets. There is no special
equipment used to count all the contributions received - just the dedicated
volunteers who donate their time on Sunday and Monday to unfold, sort,
count, and tally. You can assist these volunteers though, as well as
the Parish Manager and Accountant, by following a few "helpful
hints." Try not to Fold (unfolding bills and checks, whether in
an envelope or not, can take more time than the actual counting). Try
to Mark (marking all collection envelopes with the amount enclosed is
a real time saver. It also ensures that the correct amount will be credited
to your account). Also, remember to note on any envelope if your contribution
is meant for something other than the collection in which it was received.
This is the only way to ensure that your donation is separated correctly.
And finally, please No Tape (it makes opening the envelope very difficult).
MANY THANKS FOR HELPING OUR COLLECTION HELPERS!
SPONSOR OF THE WEEK: Our thanks to Bob & Tricia Clark Arlington
