FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK

Dear St. Charles Parishioners,

"For Zion's sake I will not be silent."

The church has a solemn duty to give voice to the voiceless, especially when their rights and their life are at stake.

Next Monday, January 26, Catholics from across the State of Virginia will converge at the General Assembly in Richmond to stand in solidarity with the poor, the vulnerable and the homeless on Catholic Advocacy Day.

On Thursday the 22nd, our diocese joins the March for Life to speak for the most silent among us, the pre-born. Let us pray, let us march and let us work for a new respect for life in our laws and in our society.

Call Dan Marrin at the Parish Office for more information on these events.

Rev. Gerry Creedon

MARCH FOR LIFE ACTIVITIES
Join the Respect Life Committee for the March for Life on Thursday, January 22nd. The March is on Constitution Avenue, NW in DC starting at 15th St. NW at about 1 PM. We will meet at 8 AM at St. Charles and go down to the rally and Mass at the MCI center then proceed to the March. For those who can't make it to the MCI center, another member, Becky, will meet a 2nd group between 11:45 AM and Noon at St. Charles to meet up with the first group. WE WILL LEAVE RIGHT AT NOON and take the Metro downtown. At 5 PM, we will meet in front of the Supreme Court to hear moving testimonies of women who have had abortions. This group is called "Silent No More". This will last until 8 PM. For more information contact Becky Geiger at (703) 524-4658 or blgeiger@starpower.net or Grace Sims (703) 528-5522 or moshimoshi@starpower.net.

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
"Above all, the common outcry, which is justly made on behalf of human rights-for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture-is false and illusory if the right to life, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition of all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination."

Read the latest young adults news in the C'YA Scroll, check out photos from the parish Christmas party and children's Christmas Eve Mass, read a Fr. Creedon homily you may have missed or see who's saying Mass next weekend. The new year is a great time to resolve to visit us at least once a week. And if you use a handheld PDA, you can sync up to "St. Charles Borromobile" for parish news on the go. Contact webteam@stcharleschurch.org for more details, to offer suggestions or to join the Web Team.
