FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK
This weekend we celebrate stewardship Sunday.
Over 140 members volunteered their time and talent during our recent
Ministries Fair. The programs of the parish grow
because of your willingness to share your precious time. I need not
urge you to share your treasure. Over the past year though Rooted in
Faith and through the earlier Build the Spirit Campaign, over 5 million
dollars have been pledged. Because of your pledges and a diocesan bridging
loan we are able to fund our Community Center which we hope to officially
open in late January. We need you to continue to redeem your pledges.
For newcomers we have designated a Building Fund to which they can pledge
to assist in the completion of our Center and to assist us with the
needs of our other aging campus facilities.
We have been able to fund these major campaigns without cutting back
on our operations because of your support to the regular Sunday Offertory.
Thank you! Thank you!
My appreciation to the planners of last Sunday's celebration of Respect
Life and La Fiesta del Señor de Los Milagros.
May we thank the Lord of the Marvels for his many gifts!

to our parish school and is by far our biggest fund-raiser. We have
two NEW additions to the Oktoberfest this year! We will have a PUMPKIN
PATCH where children young and old can decorate a small pumpkin or pick
out a larger pumpkin for your holiday decorating. You will also be able
to purchase a picture of your "little pumpkin" holding his/her
favorite pumpkin! We are pleased to announce that we will have KARAOKE
at the Spaghetti Dinner 4:00 - 7:00 PM, so warm up those voices or just
be a good audience for our own American Idols! By now you have received
your raffle tickets in the mail. If you have not received them, or would
like more, please contact the School Office or the Parish Office. Please
offer these raffle tickets to your friends, neighbors and relatives.
The Silent Auction Pre-Catalog should be available TODAY! Please look
at the entrances of the Church for a copy. We will still be accepting
donations for the Silent Auction and the Krafthaus until Wednesday,

TOP WEB PAGES AND POLL RESULTS FROM LAST MONTH
Your parish website, www.stcharleschurch.org, gets thousands of visitors
each month. The most popular pages in September were the homepage and
the celebrant's schedule, as usual,
followed by the C'YA (young adults) calendar,
the parish calendar and Fr.
Chuck's house blessing. The most popular ministries online were
C'YA, followed by RCIA
(for converts) and Social
Justice, unchanged from August. The most read homily was Fr.
Creedon's reflections on war from September 7. That homily included
September's most popular poll where we asked you what you thought about
the war in Iraq. Out of 80 respondents, 49% answered "It's necessary,
and I feel safer," while 44% felt "We should not have gone
to war in Iraq," and 8% said "It's necessary, although I don't
feel safer right now."
