FROM THE PASTOR
Enrollment is still open for St. Charles School. My experience with
the students and faculty convince me that we have an exceptional environment
for the development of our children intellectually, emotionally and
spiritually. Call the school office 703-527-0608 and talk to Sister
Benedict.
I look forward to the first of the "Conversations with Creedon
Series" on Sunday evening September 7. My guest will be Michelle
Miller who does such an exceptional job coordinating our RCIA
program and in the direction of Catholic Young Adult Ministry nationwide.
Our topic will be "Whatever happened to Vatican II?" Please
join us at the Cafeteria at 7 PM beginning with refreshments.
With the summer coming to an end and school starting TOMORROW, please
keep in mind while driving through the parking lot, that our school
children use the parking lot as their playground! Please observe the
five (5) mile per hour speed limit!
THANK YOU!!!

meant to be about sharing stories, jokes, and memories: as the old
saying goes, the more, the merrier!
- The American Red Cross has a shortage of grocery shoppers and friendly
visitors for homebound senior. Please call Jodi Hoffman at 703-841-2747
if you can help.
- Charities' senior center, San Martin de Porres, needs administrative
help. If you can volunteer between 9:30-1 PM to answer phone and greet
people, call Carol at 703-751-2766.
RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
"If such care must be taken to respect every life, even that of criminals
and unjust aggressors, the commandment "you shall not kill"
has absolute value when it refers to the innocent person. And all the
more so in the case of weak and defenseless human beings, who find their
ultimate defense against the arrogance and caprice of others only in the
absolute binding force of God's commandment." (Evangelium Vitea.).

YOUTH - HELP NEEDED
The adult volunteers of WAY, St. Charles' High School Youth Group are
looking for other energetic young adults with a passion for ministry
and an interest in working with some of the greatest teenagers God has
put in our world. We meet Sunday nights. We love what we do, and we're
looking for a couple more people to join us to make the 2003-2004 school
year the best ever!
At the Papal Youth Rally in January, 1999, Pope John Paul II told
the thousands of teenagers gathered, "youth is a marvelous gift
of God. It is a time of special energies, special opportunities and
special responsibilities. Christ and the Church need your special talents.
Use well the gifts the Lord has given you!'' Every Sunday night, we,
the adult volunteers get the blessed opportunity to share in these gifts,
energies and talents while we gather in Christ's name. If you're even
a little interested and would like to discuss the idea, please contact
Anne Marie Kaufmann at 703-527-5500, x19 or youth@stcharleschurch.org.
