Bulletin for July 13, 2003

15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

From the Pastor
Dear St. Charles Parishioners:

This coming week I return for a trip to the Emerald Isle where I hope to visit my Nine brothers and Fourth sisters and forty-five nieces and nephews, and celebrate a nephew Fiona's wedding!

I am delighted to welcome Fr. David Whitestone to residency with us at St. Charles. He will assist Fr. Francisco Mendez and myself when his primary duties at the Diocesan Tribunal will allow. He comes to us with expertise in canon law, a reputation as an excellent preacher, and an interest in youth and education. A native of Alexandria let us make his move to Arlington a pleasant adjustment. Welcome.

A big thank you to all whom made my 35th Anniversary such a happy occasion!

Rev. Gerry Creedon

Looking for a new way to live out your Catholic faith this summer? Get in on the Brake the Cycle cross-country bicycle tour, which started in San Francisco ends in Washington, DC on August 1. Since June 1, a team of 20 Catholic riders has cycled, raising awareness daily about poverty in the United States and engaging others in the work of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development to break the America cycle of poverty. Help is needed to publicize the arrival of the riders to D.C., and to organize a small group to ride from Arlington to the USCCB building (near Catholic University) to meet them. Dan Marrin at 703-527-5500 or at office@stcharleschurch.org to help.
