Dear St. Charles Parishioners:
This is a special time in the story of St. Charles. The third gable
has been raised over our new community center. Our crowded parish will
expand its ministries of service and education with this much needed
space.
May and June will witness the completion of our Capital Campaign "ROOTED
IN FAITH-FORWARD IN HOPE." Success will mean a parish with new
facilities and little or no debt! This initiative will also give us
the opportunity to build the Kingdom through our diocese, by funding
needed shelter for families. These projects deserve our unconditional
support. As a former Director of Catholic Charities, I have been involved
in this pastoral plan and attest to its importance. All monies raised
are restricted to the Parish Center or to these projects.
Like many of you I have donated to the original parish campaign, Build
the Spirit. This has not stopped me making the same pledge to this new
campaign, one hundred dollars a month for 5 years. I have arranged my
new pledge so that I pay it following the completion of my promise to
the Build the Spirit Campaign. Where there is a will there is a way.
I cannot ask a sacrifice of you without a similar sacrifice on my own
part.
Please pray for the parish during these important weeks, and join
me in this effort,
BE PART OF THE PENTECOST FIRE!
Come to Pentecost Sunday wearing the colors of fire - red,
orange and yellow.
Let's fill the church with tongues of fire!
ARLINGTON COUNTY FOSTER PARENT

Tammi McKinley and John Fraas would like to thank the St. Charles community

life.

SOCIAL JUSTICE NEWS
PROJECT LAZARUS
A young mother is desperate to pay rent, having not received child support
from her ex-husband. An unemployed immigrant is about to be evicted.
They turn to our church, and they are supported by Project Lazarus.
Project Lazarus is St. Charles' donation-based emergency assistance
fund, for walk-ins and referrals from local agencies. Donations go to
rent, utilities, and prescription assistance, and we have helped a wide
variety of Arlington residents through God's help and your generosity.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT AGAIN: please send a check or envelope donation
for Project Lazarus. God bless you all.
RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
"The fact that legislation in many countries, perhaps even departing
from basic principles of their Constitutions, has determined not to
punish these practices against life, and even to make them altogether
legal, is both a disturbing symptom and a significant cause of great
moral decline." (Evangelium Vitae, para. #4)
SCHOOL NEWS
To all who helped with Mayfest, our sincere thanks for all you did to
create another successful event. Despite the change in date from October

the school almost $10,000. We are blessed by your efforts. Look for
our return to Oktoberfest in the Fall. Congratulations to the winners
of the Mayfest Mini-Raffle: 1st Place $250-Brain Callaghan, 2nd Place
$100 Asha Patton, and 3rd Place $50-Huy Tran. Thank you for supporting
