Dear St. Charles Parishioners:
Today's readings center of faith. Acts tells us the early community
of believers took the gospel to heart and formed their lives on its
message. Peter writes to encourage the newly baptized Christians who
faced hostility. And the Gospel tells the story of Thomas. He insists
upon physical evidence before he believes. He doubts, but Jesus knows
this and speaks to him through his doubts. He recognizes Thomas as one
who can believe and he calls him to faith. The gospel writer encourages
his audience to believe in Jesus even though they haven't actually seen
him.
