Dear St. Charles Parishioners:
"Rooted
in faith - Forward in Hope" is the title of a capital campaign
to assist our diocese and our parish meet urgent needs. This combined
effort has already taken root at St. Charles. This initiative will help
us complete the payment for the new Community Center that is springing
up rapidly beside our Church. As well, we will participate with the
larger church in the development of a retirement facility for diocesan
priests, a shelter for homeless families, a retreat center and strengthen
the outreach of Catholic Charities and our schools.
The goal for our campaign is a daunting: 2.2 million. However, 45
families have already come forward to pledge over 30% of that amount.
This weekend we reach out to the rest of the parish. Welcome your fellow
parishioner who will visit you as you would your priests.
Your prayer and sacrifice will bring us a future of great promise
and hope!
Peace,

PARKING
Please cooperate with our parking lot attendants and ushers as they
are trying to accommodate EVERYONE! We ask you for patience as our community
center construction continues. Midas will tow if you park at any time
other than Sunday!
COMTEMPLATIVE WAY
The second Tuesday of every month through June. The April 8th topic
is "Living in the Present Moment." There is input, practices,
silence, and sharing. Come to the Chapel 7:30-9:00. Facilitated by Jean
Sweeney. $10.00 to St. Charles.
EUCHARIST MINISTER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The Eucharistic Ministry at St. Charles is currently recruiting new
extraordinary ministers of the
eucharist. EMs assist in the distribution of Holy Communion at all
Masses, conduct two weekly communion services at area retirement centers,
and take communion to the sick and homebound of the parish. New EMs
must attend one of three upcoming diocesan workshops and receive a mandate
from the Office of Sacred Liturgy. If you would like to volunteer or
learn more about this very rewarding ministry, please contact Brad Harrison
at 703-522-3890 or baharrison@aol.com.

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
"To claim the right to abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia, and to
recognize that right in law, means to attribute to human freedom a perverse
and evil significance: that of an absolute power over others and against
others."
FAMILY CELEBRATION
The 11:00 AM Mass on Easter Sunday will be a Children's liturgy. If
your child would like to participate please call Cathleen O'Brien at
703-312-1182. If parents or adults would like to help in the planning
it will be appreciated. Share your child's joy in Christ!

IN OUR PARISH
PARISH COUNCIL NEWS

PM in the Parish Library. If they are unable to attend. Parish Council
Representatives are reminded to designate an alternate to participate
in the meeting.
DON'T BE AN APRIL FOOL
It would be plain foolish if you missed the annual April Fool's edition
of your parish website later this week on www.stcharleschurch.org. Of
course, if you're looking for something more serious, you'll also find
the parish's Lenten schedule, reflections
and a list of peace resources, like
statements from the Vatican and the US Bishops. You can even join our
newest email list, which is focused on
peace issues. Share your faith with a friend or coworker this Lent by
mentioning our website; it would be foolish not to.
