Dear St. Charles Parishioners:
Congratulations to our newly confirmed members. I hope Confirmation
brings you strong faith and a willingness to serve. Instead of graduating
from Religious Education, I hope this event will call you into a deeper
involvement with your Church, through On the Way and Way, our youth
ministries. Please be in touch with Anne Marie Kaufmann youth@stcharleschurch.org
in the Parish Office with regard to opportunities for service for youth
at St. Charles.
Thanks to all who planned and participated in our St. Patrick's Day
celebrations, especially Colleen Dykema, Sylvia Sanchez and our Hospitality
and Liturgy Committees, and our
children.
You are invited: 1) to Marymount University's Forum on Taxes and Social
Justice in Virginia, sponsored by VICPP, March 23 PM, 2) to an Inter-faith
Service for Peace at St. Mary's Episcopal, N. Glebe Road on March 29
PM, 3) to our Tuesday Lenten Supper and
lecture, and 4) to our neighborhood
events.
Peace,

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
"
not only
is the fact of the destruction of so many human lives still to be born
or in their final stage extremely grave and disturbing, but no less
grave and disturbing is the fact that conscience itself, darkened as
it were by such widespread conditioning, is finding it increasingly
difficult to distinguish between good and evil

JOURNEYING WITH THOSE
JOINING OUR CHURCH
This weekend at the 9:00 AM Mass, we celebrate the 1st of 3 Scrutinies
for the Elect, those preparing for baptism at Easter. These ancient
prayers, also called "Major Exocisms" ask the community to
pray for these Elect, that they be given a spirit of repentance and
freedom from sin in preparation for the waters of rebirth. Journey with
them by discerning what in your own life needs to be freed from sin's
bondage. Next week: 2nd Scrutiny at 9:00 AM Mass.
