St. Charles Bulletin for December
8, 2002
2nd Sunday of Advent

Dear St. Charles Parishioners:
I have just listened to Kristen and Joe talk about their situation and
the plight of their neighbors at Oakridge apartments near Courthouse,
where 55 units of affordable rentals will be replaced with 33 apartments
of much less affordable housing to make way for a luxury apartment complex.
While other citizens will worry about the height of buildings and traffic,
we as a church need to advocate for seniors and others who live close
to the margin.
The coming of Christ is not just a poetic story of Mary and Joseph looking
for room at the inn. His presence is a renewed call to make room for all
classes and income levels in our own neighborhoods.
That has been Arlington's historic commitment. It is also our Christian
duty.
Come to our celebration of our Lady of Guadalupe at 5 PM on December
14, followed by a joyous fiesta of song in the Cafeteria. Mark Monday
the 16th for the Penance Service at 7:30 PM.
Peace,
P.S. For more information on this housing situation, call Kristen Jones
at 703-524-3458 or Dan Marrin at 703-527-5500.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP & PATIENCE
Please cooperate with our parking lot attendants and ushers as they are
trying to accommodate EVERYONE! We ask you for patience as our community
center construction continues. We are also asking for volunteers to help
direct traffic in the parking lot. Please call Marvin Mayorga at the Parish
Office. Thank you!
FEAST OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
All parishioners and their families are invited to celebrate the Feast
of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Saturday, December 14 at the 5 PM Mass. Please

all are invited to enjoy an evening of music, dancing and food. If you
would like to sing or dance, please call Francis Morales Gross at 703-525-6424
or leave a message at the Parish Office. If you would like to donate a
dish, please call Rosita Guardado 703-691-1393, or also leave a message
at the Parish Office.

well as tags for food certificates, and more. If you feel you'd rather
help in a big way financially, make a donation to Saint Charles, listing
it for the Giving Tree. We will use your funds to purchase a gift on your
behalf. The deadline to bring in gifts is December 22nd. Call Maria Cooper
