St. Charles Bulletin for November
10, 2002
32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear St. Charles Parishioners:
"The wise ones brought oil in their lamps"
Our Ministries Fair attracted over 200 new volunteers to assist the
mission of the church here at St. Charles. I encourage all the coordinators
of the various programs, professional and volunteer, to make every effort
to follow up with these new recruits.
Oftentimes, we prefer doing things ourselves than going to the trouble
of training and working with new people. However, we are summoned to live
up to our mission statement: "We call on all to offer their unique
gifts in building the reign of God's love."
I bring your attention to some upcoming adult education opportunities.
On Monday, November 11, at 7:30 PM, Fr. Thomas Ferguson will present on
the role of conscience in Catholic life. Next Sunday, November 17, at
Barnes and Noble Crystal City at 4:00 PM, I have been invited to an ecumenical
conversation with Rabbi Bash and Imam Johari on the recently published
book by Feifer on Abraham.
On Sunday evening at 7:00 PM in the Chapel, I will focus "Conversations
with Creedon" on the topic of grief. At our Liturgy Meeting on November
12, I urge all with a special role in liturgy, Eucharistic Ministers,
Lectors, Cantors, Ushers etc., as well as the interested public to come
to a discussion on "The Changes" in anticipation of the Advent
liturgies. We will begin with an informal meal at 6:00 PM. So please call
in to the Office if you can attend,
Peace,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP & PATIENCE
Please cooperate with our parking lot attendants and ushers as they are
trying to accommodate EVERYONE! We ask you for patience as our community
center construction continues. We are also asking for volunteers to help
direct traffic in the parking lot. Please call Marvin Mayorga at the Parish
Office. Thank you!
BAPTISM PREPARATION
Please note that Baptism preparation in English will be offered on Sunday,
December 8th at 12 Noon in the Parish Library. This will combine Baptism
preparation for November and December. Pre-registration is required.

"LET'S TALK CAR TROUBLE"
In the immigrant and Latino community, traffic infractions can lead to
deportation, and getting either a proper license or a parking spot in
your own apartment complex can be near impossible. On November 17, St.
Charles invites all to a special forum on "car troubles" in
Arlington, and what needs to be done , from 2:00-4:00 PM in the Upper
Room.
SPONSOR OF THE WEEK: Our thanks to Brian K. Madden, Attorney FOR HIS
SUPPORT.
RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY

we might work to preserve all human life, from conception to natural death:
