St. Charles Bulletin for September 22, 2002

25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

from the pastor...

Dear St. Charles Parishioners:

I write this note from Banica, Dominican Republic. We celebrate the 11th Anniversary of the Mission I helped initiate.

With Bishop Grullon, Fr. Pat Posey & Fr. Jack o' Hara I have Reviewed new housing, Roads, Educational and Evangelization projects. The people are vital, faith-filled, poor but filled with hope. The Church is the mainstay of their hope.

Bishop Loverde had planned to lead this Anniversary Celebration but was detained by problems within our Diocese. Our bishop Loverde is a caring, honarable leader who works Day and Night for the good of the people. I ask your prayers for him and the priests and people of the Diocese.

I thank all who Assisted Dennis Warner in the presentation of a wonderful Interfaith service for 9/11.

With Renewed Hope,
Rev. Gerry Creedon

MASS OF REMEMBRANCE FOR GRETTA CREEDON
On September 27 at 8 PM, Bishop Loverde will preside at a Memorial Liturgy offered by Fr. Gerry Creedon and family in honor of their mother, Gretta Creedon. All are invited. A reception will follow in the School Cafeteria.

BAPTISMAL PREPARATION
Please note that the next Baptism preparation class in English will be offered today, Sunday, September 22nd, at 12 Noon, in the Parish Library.

As you can see, our construction efforts have begun! The fencing has been placed around the circle entrance eliminating that entrance/exit to and from the parking lot. At present, the circle entrance to the Church is still open; however, as construction continues, it too will be closed. Please cooperate with our parking lot attendants and ushers as they are trying to accommodate EVERYONE! We ask for your patience as this effort continues.

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
"Widespread acceptance of cloning would be a deathblow to the sanctity/equality of life ethic - the cornerstone of Western liberty from which sprang our unrealized dream of universal human rights. The premise of the sanctity of life ethic is that each and every one of us is of equal, incalculable, moral worth. Whatever our race, sex, ethnicity, stature, health, disability, age, beauty or cognivive capacity we are all full moral equals within the human community - there is no "them," only us."
- Wesley J. Smith, "Cloning Reality," National Review, May 3, 2002.
