St. Charles Bulletin for September 8, 2002

23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

from the pastor...

Dear St. Charles Parishioners:

"Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

If that is true of two or three, surely it is more true of the hundreds and thousands who will gather over the years in our projected Parish Community Center. This weekend, we celebrate Groundbreaking. It is a time to ask God's blessing on the building process and for a renewal of our parish mission … mission statement … Come and join us!

A Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated for my mother on September 27th at 8 o'clock. Your continuing prayers for her and my family are a great comfort.

Peace,

Rev. Gerry Creedon

SOCIAL JUSTICE NEWS
Philippine Medical Mission RAFFLE
The PMM raffle was a great success. We raised over $5000 which will go towards buying the jeep essential to the mobile clinic, serving a remote village in the Cotabato province of the Philippines. PMM deeply thanks the "Fiesta Oriental" Store, the sponsor of the raffle, all the raffle donors, and our friends volunteers at St. Charles who help make events like these a success.

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
A culture of life - where every human life is protected, respected and celebrated - begins with a personal decision to respect the dignity of others. But it will take much more than that. We must bear this culture to others through our words and actions, and work for public policies that support human life and human dignity. Above all, we must pray.
