St. Charles Bulletin for July 7, 2002

14th Sunday in Ordinary Time

from the pastor...

"I will give you rest".

As I take off to visit Ireland, my family and friends, I'm glad to have the Lord's word of encouragement. Like many of you, I have inherited a work ethic that will not quit. I believe that action counts more than words or intentions. My favorite scripture quotes are: "By their fruits you shall know them" and "Not those who say Lord, Lord, but those who do the will of the Father."

We need God to tap us on the shoulder and point out the value of rest. "Make Holy the Sabbath" is the weekly reminder to leave aside our occupations to rest in the Lord.

May each of you be blessed with time for vacation and renewal.

Rev. Gerry Creedon
