St. Charles Bulletin for June 30,
2002
13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
"Whoever gives a cup of water to these little ones to drink."
This is the test of discipleship, care for children and vulnerable people.
Thanks for your support to today's tithe for Borromeo
Housing and your paticipation in Music
for Moms. Our outreach to mothers and children increasingly serves
teen mothers. I invite you to join me in a presentation and dialogue on
the outcome of the US Bishops' Meeting in Dallas, a Charter for the Protection
of Children and Young People. Join me after the 6 PM Mass on June 30.
I thank the neighborhood Representatives who have reached out with summer
activities and more than a cup of water to their neighbors!
Peace!

THE CONTEMPLATIVE WAY
Listening With The Heart
Because the Wednesday night series were so popular (25+ people attending),
there will be two additional sessions this summer: Tuesday, July 17 and
August 13, from 7:30 to 8:30 PM in the Chapel. Come and See. In the Fall,
there will be monthly sessions for Spiritual Growth in the Contemplative
Way. Call Jean Sweeney for info. at 703-527-5500 x15. Co-leader Lori Marie
Croskey is hoping to lead a twice monthly Julian contemplative prayer
group. Call Lori Marie for more info: at 703-841-8728.
ALWAYS OUR CHILDREN
A support group has been formed for Catholic families who love their gay
and lesbian members. The group is named "Always Our Children",
following the pastoral message issued by the National Conference of Catholic
Bishops, Committee on Marriage and Family. Meeting are held at St. Matthews's
Cathedral parish (1725 Rhode Island Ave. N.W. Washington, D.C.) on the
second Saturday of each month 2:00 until 4:00 PM. Gay and lesbian persons
are also welcome. For further information, call Tom or Betty at 703-978-7081.
PLEASE NOTE: ALL bulletin announcement requests MUST be submitted to
the Parish Office by Noon on Wednesday, June 26th to insure inclusion
in the July 7th bulletin issue (because of July 4th holiday).
THE PARISH OFFICE will be closed on Thursday, July 4th in observance
of Independence Day.
SPONSOR OF THE WEEK: Our thanks to HARRY WILHEM, JR. & COMPANY,
CPAs for their support.
