St. Charles Bulletin for June 9,
2002
10th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
This coming June 14th has been proclaimed a day of fast and abstinence
in the Diocese of Arlington to atone for sins and crimes committed against
the innocent. A novena will extend until the 15th to seek healing and
reconciliation for the victims and perpetrators of clerical sexual abuse
and wisdom for our bishops.
In addition to prayer, over 50 parishioners provided me very valuable
written advice and counsel before our recent priests meeting with Bishop
Loverde. I made this offering of letters part of my consultation. He assured
me that he would give their ideas his careful consideration. I advocated
for a standing committee of laity that would assist in the implementation
of policy and for the speedy creation of a diocesan pastoral council that
would insure the increased participation of lay persons in the leadership
of the diocese on these and other issues. I thank all of you who have
written for very thoughful comment.
Our blessings to St. Charles 22 graduates and to all other graduates
as they celebrate their accomplishments and ready themselves for new horizons.
Blessing to the 25 First Communicants form the Latin American Community
who joined us at the Lord's Table on Corpus Christi.
"I will be with you always!"

11 AM MASS ATTENDEES MOST LIKELY TO USE WEB ACCORDING TO POLL
In the recent online poll about the parish website, www.stcharleschuch.org,
parishioners who go to our 11 AM Mass were 46% of the total respondents,
twice that of the 9 AM crowd who came in at 23%. Other respondents attended
the following Masses: 6 PM Sunday (15%), 5 PM Vigil (8%) and 7:30 AM (6%).
The poll indicates that news and headlines were very popular, but parishioners
also want to see timely info for all ministries. (Some haven't updated
their contact in over two years!) In response, the Parish Council and
Web Team are working together to ensure that only active ministries with
accurate contact information appear on the parish site by the end of summer.
NEXT WEEK'S TITHE
Next week's tithe is for St. Charles Outreach: This program provides emergency
and charitable financial disbursements to those in need in our community
as well as other organizations to benefit the poor and marginal.

- Last Week's Tithe of $1,650.66 was for our sister parishes in Cavaillon
& Gros Marin, Haiti.
