St. Charles Bulletin for March 31, 2002
Easter Sunday

Christ is Risen! Alleluia!
At the Easter Vigil we celebrated Baptism and the
other sacraments of Initation. We proclaim the
Resurrection by sharing our faith with a group of new
believers. Easter hope is contagious. May the Easter
season deepen the faith and hope of all who identify
with St. Charles. In a time when our world is
darkened by cycles of violence and when our church is
in a time of testing and upheaval, we need to ground
our hope solidly in the Lord who is our help and
salvation. I would like to invite all of you to a
presentation I will lead in the Church after the 6 PM
Mass on April 14 . "The US Catholic Church in a time
of crisis: a dialogue on current problems in the light
of our faith in Christ's dying and rising".
Our parish had good news recently. Bishop
Loverde wrote offering permission, "to initiate the
bidding process for the proposed construction of a
Parish Community Center". This is a major step
forward to the realization of an historic goal. Our
success is based on the pledged support of so many
parishioners. If you are new and would like to join
our campaign, please be in touch with Jane McCarthy at
the Parish Office. I thank all who have contributed
to the Bishop's Lenten Appeal, which aids the diocese
in supporting projects such as this with loans.
Remember to bring your Rice Bowl Offerings to
assist the hungry of the world and the children in
Haiti. May the Risen Lord inspire a new commitment in
all of our efforts to build community.
Peace,

SOCIAL JUSTICE NEWS
SALT UPDATE: SALT (Social Action Linking Together)
thanks all parishioners who called and wrote letters
to their legislators on behalf of our SALT priorities.
By joining your voice with others from the Diocese,
you really made an enormous difference. The Child
Support Pass-Through passed in the amount of $4.5
million. Additionally, homeless funding was restored.
The TANF COLA and rental assistance did not pass. The
bottom line is that lots of families will not be
sliding into homelessness and their family well-being
will be improved.
SPONSOR OF THE WEEK: Our thanks to Advent Funeral &
Cremation Services for their support.
