St. Charles Bulletin for March 24, 2002
Palm Sunday

Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
"I have given you a model to follow so that as I have done for you, you
should also do for one another".
From Palm Sunday, Holy Thrusday, Good Friday to Holy Saturday and Easter, the
church proclaims the meaning of Christ's dying and rising. Through ritual action
involving palms, bread, wine, cross and water, the purpose of Jesus' life and
death are revealed. He gave his life that others may live. The key celebration
of the Lord's Passover is the Easter Vigil when we welcome new members through
Baptism and the Profession of Faith. Our Mission has prepared us for the renewal
of our own baptismal identity and call.
In John's Gospel on Holy Thursday, we have the beautiful rite of foot washing.
It is a call to solidarity with the poor. At the presentation of the gifts on
Holy Thursday, we will offer items for the region's homeless: foot powder, creams,
Innersoles, socks and foot medications as well as financial donations to Unity
Health Care for the homeless.
During and following Holy Week, we will have a basket at the entrance for
your RICE BOWL and other offerings for the Haiti Nutrition program. You may
also bring your Haiti gifts to the Parish Office.
I thank you for your generosity to the parish, to the Parish Center Campaign
and to the Bishop's Lenten Appeal.
JOIN US FOR RECONCILIATION ON MONDAY THE 25TH AT 7:30 PM.
With Blessings,

have already responded to the BLA. Please return your BLA pledge.
SALT UPDATE
SALT (Social Action Linking Together) thanks all parishioners who called and
wrote letters to their legislators on behalf our SALT priorities. By joining
your voice with others from the Diocese, you really made an enormous difference.
The Child Support Pass-Through passed in the amount of $4.5 million. Additionally,
homeless funding was restored. The TANF COLA and rental assistance did not pass.
The bottom line is that lots of families will not be sliding into homelessness
and their family well-being will be improved.

our selfishness to embrace those who are most in need. Thank you for your generosity.

Finance Committee Chairman Charlie Sullivan met with the Diocesan Loan Committee

will send to Fr. Creedon a letter advising of his decision.
Other recent developments related to the Parish Community Center project include:

Square sector plans will have to be considered in choosing the tree varieties
to be planted on the Fairfax Drive and Kirkwood Road sides of our site.

To assist in the decision making process, Parish Community Center Committee
members visited neighboring parishes and schools to see the various types
of materials that have been used for the have been used for the interiors
