St. Charles Bulletin for March 3, 2002
3rd Sunday of Lent

Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
"How can you, a Jew, ask me, a Samaritan
woman, for a drink?"
Jesus comes at Lent and Easter to draw us
through the water of baptism to a new life. As
we accompany our candidates for Easter
sacraments we are all called to "catch the
Spirit anew and pass it on." The spirit of
Jesus is a healing spirit. On March 5 we will
reflect on "spirituality and healthcare." All
involved with our Circle of Caring are
specially invited. Our neighborhood activities
will focus on building bridges of understanding
between Islam and Catholicism. We will
dialogue on our various rituals of sacrifice in
this penitential season. Remember to keep St.
Patrick's celebration on the 16th and our
Mission the following week in your calendar.
Thanks for supporting the Bishop's Lenten
Appeal, the Capital Campaign and Rice Bowl.
Shalom, Salaam, Paz, Suiochain, and
Peace,

around the parking lot and enter the church for
the 6:00 P.M Mass. Please join us. It will be

invited to develop a stronger spiritual life

SOCIAL JUSTICE NEWS
In today's Gospel, Jesus encounters a Samaritan
woman at a well. In this reading, we come to
understand that it was unusual for Jews and
Samaritans to speak, so it was extraordinary
for Jesus to be seen speaking with a Samaritan
woman. But Jesus came for all people and
embraced all people as a part of the people of
God. There are many places in this world where
people of different ethnic backgrounds, and
women in particular, are treated as inferior.
SPONSOR OF THE WEEK: Our thanks to Clover
Plumbing for their support.
RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
It is imperative to restore legal protection to

jeopardized.
