Parish Sunday Bulletins

St. Charles Bulletin for November 18, 2001

33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

from the pastor...FROM OUR PASTOR

Dear St. Charles Parishioners:

"There will arise the sun of justice with its healing rays". As I write there are reports on another air disaster in New York. Let us redouble our prayers for all victims and let us work to make our world a safer place. The campaign against terror and violence needs to be accompanied by action for justice at home and abroad to remove some of the causes of conflict. Today's Campaign for Human Development is a major effort by our church to combat poverty by helping poor people to help themselves. St. Charles offers you a gift for advent, "The Word Among Us". This is a helpful resource for you and your household to share and meditate on the scriptures. I urge you to consider a subscription to this daily approach to prayer and scripture.

Peace,

Rev. Gerry Creedon

PARISH EVENTS

PARISH COMMUNITY CENTER NEWS

In remembrance of Fr. Stewart Culkin, a memorial fund in his honor has been established for the Community Center. Those who wish to participate may do so by placing their contribution in the collection basket or you may drop it off at the Parish Office.

Please make checks payable to St. Charles Church, Fr. Stewart Culkin's Memorial Fund.

"Like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house"
(1 Peter 2:5)

In order to permanently acknowledge participants in the capital campaign, the Parish Community Center Committee is working with MTFA Architecture to develop a Living Stones memorial in the Parish Center. It is envisioned that the design will be incorporated into the architecture of the building itself and would include the names of each individual or family that has made a minimum contribution to the Campaign. (While it is the intention of the committee to follow in the St. Charles tradition of being inclusive, rather than exclusive, the cost of the materials does need to be covered.) We are very excited about this concept and will continue to keep the parish apprised as it is more fully developed. Thanks to everyone for their prayers and support.

Based on your input from the first round of the parishioner design review, MTFA Architecture has fine-tuned the plans for the Parish Center. Parishioners are to review these plans after all Masses on the weekend of November 24 - 25 and December 1 - 2 in the Parish Library. A member of the Parish community Center Committee will be on hand to answer your questions. Please stop by.
