Parish Sunday Bulletins

St. Charles Bulletin for September 30, 2001

26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

from the pastor...FROM OUR PASTOR

Dear St. Charles Parishioners:

"Woe to the complacent". These words from today's first reading spur us to action. We cannot sit with arms folded. The call to peace making and better understanding is the topic for discussion on Monday, October 1st at 8 PM at the church. I have invited Imam Anwar from the Falls Church Mosque to join me in a presentation that will explore the common values supported by the followers of Abraham and Jesus.

There is also no room for complacency at our Ministries Volunteer Fair. As a parish we believe in full employment. There is room for everyone at St Charles to offer their talent to build the Reign of God in faith and love.

Peace, Salaam, Paz, Shalom,

Rev. Gerry Creedon

Respect LifeMinistry

Whenever there is lost consciousness of the fact that every man is an object of concern for us just because he is man, civilization and morals are shaken, and the advance to fully developed inhumanity is only a matter of time..
--Albert Schweitzer, M.D.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Your Help is needed! St. Charles would like to form a children choir for Grades 1-3. We have children, a pianist, and parents who can help with logistics. However, we greatly need a talented musician to lead the children in song. If you have such a gift and feel called to share it with the children in our community, please call Anne Marie at 703-527-550, ext. 19.

More Help Needed…the Sunday Level 2 Atrium needs an additional assistant to help share the life and works of Jesus with children, ages 6-9. If you are available Sunday mornings from 9am-10:30 AM and wish to share in this important ministry, please call Anne Marie at 703 527-5500, ext.19.

All high school youth are invited tonight to WAY where the wise and the young spend time together to talk about their faith, reach out to others in need, and have fun! Meetings are Sundays, 7-9 p.m. in the Youth Room.

Hey, Hey, Hey…Way is off to the farm for an evening Hay ride topped with a campfire and tasty roasted marshmallows on Friday, October 5. IN OUR PARISH

OKTOBERFEST WILL BE HELD ON OCTOBER 20TH. Please mark your calendars for a fun filled day with family and friends. We have been receiving a lot of raffle tickets back, please keep up your fine efforts. As you are doing your fall cleaning please set aside items for the Yard Sale. We will be accepting items after masses at the Youth Center on October 14th and October 15th - 18th from 5-8PM. The Krafthaus is looking for crafts to sell especially handmade items such as aprons, hand painted sweatshirts, potholders, quilts, candles, jewelry, seasonal items etc. The Silent Auction is asking for donations of theme baskets, or items to put in to the classroom theme baskets. Donation forms are in the back of the church. This year we need your help more than ever! Many of our school's parents serve in the military and police forces and may not be able to volunteer as much as in years past. Therefore, we are asking our parishioners for extra support for the Yard Sale, Spaghetti Dinner, Bake Sale and Krafthaus. Please contact, Mike or Sabra Flaherty at 703-920-2689 or email at flaherty1310@aol.com. "Feel the Spirit"!

KEEP CONNECTED TO YOUR PARISH & COMMUNITY
Your parish website, www.stcharleschurch.org, is one way you can keep connected to the St. Charles community. The Web Team will keep you informed of upcoming parish events and updated on events you may have missed. Think of it as your own personal Ministries Fair, all year long, whenever you're ready to get involved. So why not tell someone about your parish site? It's the hi-tech, yet low-key way to share your faith.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
We are looking for additional adult leaders to help with the Children's Liturgy one Sunday every couple of months during the 11AM Masses. If interested contact Germaine Leahy at 703-525-3250.
