St. Charles Bulletin for August
26, 2001
21th Sunday in Ordinary Time
This bulletin included the parishioner
design review schedule in the Capital
Campaign Newsletter #19
and parish Budget Overview (PDF 29k) for fiscal years 2001 and 2002
FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners:
"Will only a few be saved?" The answer the gospel gives to
this question is indirect; "some are last who will be first, and
some are first who will be last."
This is Jesus way of urging an inclusive approach to the church and
to faith. He fought against all forms of discrimination and elitism. At
St Charles we take this dimension of the gospel to heart. All are asked
to participate in all of the ministries and
projects that promote the mission of Jesus. We do not leave the work of
the church to the clergy, to professionals or to a certain cadre of laity.
All have a part to play.
The chair of our Finance Committee offers you this weekend an annual
account of our stewardship, how we share and manage our resources. In
the regular weekly support of the parish, and in our special Capital
Campaign for a Community Center, we have seen an immense growth in
the willingness of more and more of our people, regardless of their means,
to place their resources at the service of the church.
With the tough challenges that still face us this year, we will need
a similar generosity of spirit by ALL who identify with this dynamic parish.
Please come to the library after Mass to offer you comment on Parish Center
designs,
"The last shall be first!"

PARKING FOR MASS
ALERT!! Please do not park at the curb on the Fairfax Drive side of the
church. It is a "NO PARKING" zone and you may be ticketed. We
are working on the traffic flow in the Church parking lot to avoid parking
difficulties. Please be patient and with our volunteers - they are working
very hard to help everyone. If you would like to become a member of this
volunteer team, please call Marvin Mayorga at the Parish Office. Thank
you for your cooperation!
GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY has made available to St. Charles parishioners,
75 parking spaces on their surface lot during Sunday Masses. The parking
lot entrance is located on Kirkwood between Fairfax Drive and Washington
Blvd. Please note that George Mason also uses the lot during these times
and cannot be responsible for any property loss or damage. In the spirit
of cooperation, we thank them for their consideration.
PICNIC TIME!!
Neighbor E's summer picnic will be held today at Lyon Park, corner of
Fillmore and Pershing Drive from 1 to 4pm. Last minute participants welcome.
Just bring a dish to share and join us.
PLEASE NOTE: The Parish Office and School will be closed on Monday, September
3rd in observance of Labor Day.

in our daily prayers. Again, I appeal to your "giving hearts"

small to help prepare these children for a brighter future. God loves
you and I do too. Your continued support is a blessing. Checks can be

IN OUR PARISH
INVITE THE WEB TEAM TO YOUR WEDDING
Parishioners are using your award-winning parish website, www.stcharleschurch.org,
in some interesting ways that you might want to try. If you're getting married
or baptizing a baby, the map and directions on
the site can help your family and friends find St. Charles. Some people
like to copy the directions while other include the web address with their
announcements. Other parishioners do some subtle faith-sharing by including
the web address in an email mentioning an interesting ministry, photo or
story they say online. How are you using the site? Tell us by emailing webteam@stcharleschurch.org.
We accept wedding and baby photos, too!
