St. Charles Bulletin for August 5, 2001

18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The bulletin included an insert on how you can sponsor the education of a Haitian student for only $100 a year; and the July Haiti Newsletter (PDF).

from the pastor...FROM OUR PASTOR

Dear St. Charles Parishioners:

This weekend our Haiti Committee reaches out for your support. Over two hundred of you have already committed yourselves to sponsor the education of a Haitian child. Through your generous offer of 100 dollars a year, you have brought the bread of knowledge to the poorest families of our sister parishes. There are many more who stand in need of this essential help. Please be in touch with our Haiti Committee volunteers after Mass or drop a note be the Parish Office.

Our Haitian priests spoke to us recently of the difficulty of educating children who are listless, because they go to school hungry. They wish to develop a school lunch fund. Checks may be earmarked for that additional purpose.

"Give us today our daily bread,"

Rev. Gerry Creedon

PARKING FOR MASS
GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY has made available to St. Charles parishioners, 75 parking spaces on their surface lot during Sunday Masses. The parking lot entrance is located on Kirkwood between Fairfax Drive and Washington Blvd. Please note that George Mason also uses the lot during these times and cannot be responsible for any property loss or damage. In the spirit of cooperation, we thank them for their consideration.
ST. CHARLES PARKING: We are working on the traffic flow in the Church parking lot to avoid parking difficulties. Please be patient with us during this transition. If you would like to volunteer to help, please call Marvin Mayorga at the Parish Office. Thank you for your cooperation!

PARISH OFFERTORY ENVELOPES
The Parish Offertory Envelopes have several purposes. They provide you with a convenient way to support your Parish. They also help our Parish Office track your contribution so that we may provide you with a tax statement at the end of each year. Without your name, address, and the clearly stated amount of your donation, we are unable to accurately track your contribution. If you do not wish to use the envelopes, please notify the Parish Office in writing. We would prefer that you use the envelopes; however, donations in check form are also credited to individual registrations. Please note: if you are not a registered parishioner, your donations can not be recorded! Thank you!

Don't cash it!
Don't deposit it!
Turn it over, sign it, and write:
"Pay to the order of the
St. Charles Capital Campaign."
Our tax refund checks are a wonderful opportunity for us to do even more - above and beyond our pledges - to
Build the Spirit and
Build the Parish Community Center
Here at St. Charles.

You can simply place your check in the collection basket or drop it off at the Parish Office.
Thank you again for your continuing generosity and spirit of sacrifice.
