St. Charles Bulletin for July 8,
2001
14th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Philippine Medical Mission Summer Newsletter (PDF 175kb)
(included as an insert in the paper version of the bulletin)
FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners:
I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate Micheline Toussaint,
who has served as the Social Justice
Coordinator for our ministries. We wish her well in her career. She has
served to strengthen our work in the field of peace and justice. I especially
appreciate her contribution in the area of peace education. The parish
is lucky to have found Bernardo Vasquez as her successor. He comes from
Columbia, Latin America with experience in the field of Development and
Social Issues. I hope that he will serve to strengthen the integration
of our culturally diverse parish as we reach out to the needy and vulnerable
together. Please offer him your ideas and support.
I also welcome Kevin Simian, a Seminarian for the Diocese studying at
St. Charles Borromeo, Philadelphia. He will be serving as an intern with
us for the next month. He will work on the development of a Vocations
Committee with an Hispanic dimension. Please offer your support. Both
Bernardo and Kevin can be reached through the Parish Office.
I thank you for your increasing pledges to the Capital
Campaign and your contributions to the Haitian priests.
Peace!
P.S. Last week's
note should have read: "One-third of our community have already
provided half of the funds need. The other two-thirds are asked to offer
their pledges
" [The
web version had the correct version all along--just one more reason to
use your parish website each week!]

PARKING FOR MASS

75 parking spaces on their surface lot during Sunday Masses. The parking

Ministry
To
date, five mammalian species (sheep, mice, goats, cows and pigs) have
been cloned, however, survival of the nuclear clones has been uniformly
low. The great majority of clones
die either at various stages
of embryonic development, at birth, or soon after birth. Most newborn
clones are overweight and have an increased and dysfunctional placenta.
Those that survive the immediate perinatal period may die within days
or weeks after birth with defects such as kidney or brain abnormalities,
or with a defective immune system. Even apparently healthy adult clones
may have subtle defects that cannot be recognized in the animal.
