FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners:
Last weekend we held a glorious volunteer fair. Many new volunteers joined the
diverse ministries of St. Charles. Through the Capital Campaign table still others
joined the growing effort to build a community center. Through our upcoming Octoberfest
our school hosts a harvest festival that calls us to celebrate the many gifts
of the Lord. Through all of these events we feel the spirit and we build the spirit.
Our first Monday Adult Education series was well initiated though our Faithful
Citizenship presentation. In the dialogue witness was given by people who had
been homeless to the essential role St. Charles plays in the support of homeless
services and in advocacy for the vulnerable locally. As a follow up I invite the
participation of parishioners in three important advocacy groups that I help lead:
The VA Interfaith Center for Public Policy, its Northern VA Chapter/The Northern
VA Interfaith Coalition for Justice and SALT (Social Action Linking Together).
Brochures are available at the lobby. Micheline Toussaint, our Social Justice
Coordinator, will offer you more information at the Parish Office or if you wish
to join one of these groups you may e-mail me at: gerrycreedon@erols.com.
You are encouraged to participate in the upcoming presentation by Network.
See you at the Octoberfest,
FALL TEA FOR MOTHERS

Saturday, October 21st. CropWalk is a 10k stroll through North Arlington to
raise funds for Church World Services' global and local hunger relief efforts.
25% of the money raised is given to the Arlington Food Assistance Center; the
remaining 75% are used for global hunger relief projects. Can't walk? Consider
sponsoring a walker! Look for the colorful T-shirt by the CropWalk table in
the cafeteria after the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses and register to walk. For
more information, call Carol Brown on 524-6133.
SPONSOR OF THE WEEK: Our Special Thanks to The Catholic Shop for their support.
As abortifacient procedures go, RU-486 is not at all easy to use. A woman who
wants to end her pregnancy has to "live" with her abortion for at
least a week using this technique. Its appalling psychological ordeal.
