FROM
OUR PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners:
A parishioner Edward Kent, a member of our 11 AM liturgical
ensemble, has shared good news with me. The New York-Maryland Province
of the Society of Jesus has accepted Ed as a seminarian. He will be
moving to the Jesuit Novice House in Syracuse, NY to begin his
formation and studies at the end of August. Our prayer and love follow
Ed as he embarks on this new spiritual adventure. A 96 year old Jesuit
Fr. Durkin helps St. Charles in our outreach to residents in the
Arlington Detention Center and to the home bound. The Jesuits have
been in the forefront of the continuing renewal of our Church. It is a
privilege for St. Charles to be a part of the making of a Jesuit! Keep
us in your prayer too, Ed.
Another young adult, Carolyn Gretzinger, is honored this Sunday for
the unique contribution she has made to the life of St. Charles as the
President of our recently formed Parish Council. Her vision,
administrative ability, attention to detail and deep commitment to the
future of St. Charles have been a blessing to the parish and to myself
personally. Thank you!
FEEL THE SPIRIT!
CYA puts sparkle, sauce and a smattering of spirituality in
your summer! July 11: Spiritual Movie Night and Discussion in
the Parish Library. The movie, Enchanting Angels is the
story of Dorothy Day. This is the first in an ongoing series. Pick up
a Scroll in the back of the Church for more details on this and
other activities.
