Pentecost Sunday

FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,

Mother's Day falls on Pentecost. Perhaps there is a message in that. Our images of God tend to be patriarchal. yet Jesus lamented, "Jerusalem, I would have gathered you as a mother hen would gather her chickens under her wing". In the scriptures the Spirit, anima Christi, is often pictured as feminine; "The spirit will blow where she will". So I saw nothing out of the ordinary when the theme for Sister Benedict's Anniversary was; "celebrate her spirit!" On Mother's day let us recognize the role our mothers play in forming our experience of faith in God's love.

Mother- love reaches out to Africa when we buy our mothers a flower to support caregivers in Kenya. Throughout the year we support mothers and children through our own non-profit, Borromeo Housing.

"Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love"
Rev. Gerry Creedon

SCHOOL NEWS
Dear Laura, Springfest Committee and all who participated in the elegant extravaganza,

Sister Benedict Prays: Good and gracious God, thank you for the gift of Laura and the entire Spingfest Committee and friends, who worked so hard and made April 19th a blessed celebration of laughter and endless love. As we open our ears to listen and to absorb the message being expressed. Awaken our souls to know and to continue to live the mission of Jesus here on this Holy Ground. Help us to realize that we are a special people. Breathe new life into us, new strength. Help us to make right decisions and empower us to discover and use the gifts we have. May our hearts reveal who we are becoming and to move forward without fear and to trust in you. Shower us with enthusiasm as we face the future and send us the help we need for the work ahead of us. We thank you for the expertise of Fr. Gerry and our Search Committee for the Principal-elect. For the wonderful gift of Linda Lacot, our first Lay Principal and her family as she begins a new era in the history of St. Charles School.
