Adult Faith Formation

“Learn what is pleasing to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:10

St. Charles Parish offers continuing formation in the faith for all adults through regular series of talks, discussions, and other opportunities for growing in understanding of our beliefs.

St. Charles holds regular educational lectures, workshops, and discussions on Monday evenings from 8:00-9:00pm in Benedict Hall. These are opportunities to enrich our understanding of the Catholic faith, to come to know our Lord better so that our love for Him may also grow.

St. Charles is pleased to host guest lectures provided by the Thomistic Institute, an outreach of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies in DC. From their websiteThe Thomistic Institute exists to promote Catholic truth in our contemporary world by strengthening the intellectual formation of Christians at universities, in the Church, and in the wider public square. The thought of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Universal Doctor of the Church, is our touchstone.

  • December 2, 2019: "Knowledge and Love” by Fr. Gregory Pine

Jesus invites us to a relationship with him, through which we share in the more abundant life of his grace, giving us his merciful, saving forgiveness, healing, peace, joy, and eternal life. We enter into that relationship by opening our hearts to him and by following him as his disciples.

Through the St. Charles Challenge Workshop, you'll receive practical wisdom on the four foundational habits of Christian discipleship found in Acts 2:42: "They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles (LEARN) and to the communal life (SHARE), to the breaking of the bread (CELEBRATE) and to the prayers (PRAY)."

St. Charles hosts regular Parish Book Discussions to help us grow together as a community and promote dialogue on important topics. A new book will be chosen for the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons, with monthly discussion nights hosted at the church. Come be a part of the conversation as we explore our faith through engaging and provocative writings, new and old.

Catholic Q&A is a place where people from any background, whether it be someone who grew up in the faith or someone from a different religion, can bring their questions, concerns, doubts, and fears about the Catholic Church and we can discuss them in light of authentic Catholic Teaching. If you have questions or know anyone who has questions, come here for a friendly discussion. Some weeks we will have a topic and a short talk to kick off the discussion. Other weeks will be open to all questions.
